Vegan Meals Initiative at VSPCA!

At VSPCA, we focus not only on the well-being of our animals but on the health of our entire community within the ecosystem, which most importantly includes the people residing there. In earlier articles, we mentioned and highlighted various people living below the poverty line helping us care for street animals. These individuals can empathize with the animals living on the streets and share a special bond with them. We see this profound connection and its importance in enriching the whole community. An ecosystem is where a multiplicity of simple interactions constantly takes place between living beings necessary for every species’ survival and thriving.

Five years ago, VSPCA’s founder Mr. Pradeep Kumar Nath started an initiative of providing vegan meals to those belonging to lower socio-economic status who don’t have regular access to nutritious food. This initiative has helped more than 80 individuals get nutritious food this year. Our team members and wonderful volunteers hygienically pack a wholesome vegan meal in palm leaves and hand deliver the food to the people. This is because a lot of the people we attempt to help with this initiative are either senior individuals, or they are with physical disabilities that prevent them from coming to our shelter. We deliver food packets thrice a week on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

We have also noticed that all these individuals shared a special and trustworthy bond with a street dog or cat and will often give the first morsel of their food to them. Both the individual and the animal have given each other company in their loneliest hours and are indeed each other’s best friends

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners at NetAP, Switzerland and Winsome Constance Kindness Trust, Australia for their continued guidance and support. With their help, we have been able to feed over 80 individuals throughout the year, and we hope to continue this trend and help more people get access to food. With the COVID-19 pandemic and inflation, the costs of all food have increased. We humbly request our donors, supporters, and well-wishers help our organization continue this initiative so that we may continue to support every living member of our community.
