Cattle Respect Programme

Animals’ Angels together with the VSPCA is very happy to announce the joint foundation of the Cattle Respect Programme India. “We have been aware of the animal welfare problems in the transport of cattle in India for many years. With the Cattle Respect Programme, we have found a way to sustainably fight for a change on the ground. It is great to have the VSPCA as a reliable, well-respected partner” states Christa Blanke, founder, and director of Animals’Angels.

Animals’ Angels visited Andra Pradesh in 2012 to get an understanding of the way cattle are kept and transported in India. “Quite frankly, we were shocked. The way cattle are loaded onto trucks at shandies and transported over long distances is horrendous. The abuse takes place hidden from the Indian public and sometimes even hidden from the farmers’ eyes. We have not expected to see such cruelty on such a big scale.”

Animals’ Angels is an expert organization regarding animal transport in Europe and Australia. For over 15 years Animals’ Angels teams have been inspecting animal trucks. The Animals’ Angels reports are well-respected and used by political decision-makers all over Europe and in Australia. The organization works together with veterinaries, police forces, and politicians. Aiming for more inspections of animal trucks on the road, Animals’ Angels has trained thousands of policemen all over the EU during the last years.
