OCTOBER 4th ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI FEAST DAY

OCTOBER 4th ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI FEAST DAY

October 4th is also famous as World Animal Day

Legend has it that St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) preached to the birds and other creatures as well as to humans. He is known today as the patron saint of all Animals and Birds, the Poor, and the Environment.  God’s creatures helped Francis live the difficult lifestyle he embraced; when nobody wanted to hear him speak, he would preach to the animals and trees instead!

Anatole France has said, “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”

As diversity is important to human society, BIODIVERSITY is important for the survival of Humanity.   We all love animals, plants and the magnificent habitats they exist in.  Forests provide renewed inspiration.

Who amongst us hasn’t basked with delight in the sun at the seashore?

The ocean, our major source of oxygen, consists of billions of species who make it an underwater garden!  Let us join hands with an organization like VSPCA and support them in doing our part to maintain the planet’s natural biodiversity.

HAPPY FEAST DAY!!
