Puppy on his way to full recovery!
Over the years, VSPCA has seen several thousands of cases of abuse and cruelty against dogs. We share deep sadness for this phenomena. Animals are not here to hurt us. They are here with us, with heightened senses and skills. They are “nations unto themselves,” as Henry Beston best puts it! Dogs especially, are humans’ best friends and confidantes – forever, once they know our love. Why would we take our anger out on them? In no way or form do they deserve the brunt of our misgivings.
We try our best to help these dogs in all ways possible, by treating their injuries, operating on their wounds, spaying-neutering them for their own health purposes, vaccinating them, providing them with food and water, and nurturing them back to health. One thing we have always noticed with dogs, that no matter how injured or sick they might be, they still wag their tails at us and trust us to take care of them.
One such case is this puppy who is pictured below. This puppy was a victim of extreme and brutal cruelty. He was simply picked up and thrown against the wall which resulted in him breaking his front paws from the impact. We were able to rescue him and bring him to our skilled veterinarian, Dr. Rajeshwar who was successful in operating on his injuries. Thanks to our medical teams’ quick thinking and swift action, this puppy is on his way to make a full recovery!
With our work, education and awareness programs, we are very hopeful that human empathy for domesticated animals will grow in a movement, as it is growing for endangered and wild animals everywhere.
